In the surroundings of the Carlton Beach hotel you can completely unwind in the beautiful natural areas. The hotel is located directly on the beach, where you can enjoy the sun in summer or get a breath of fresh air during a beach walk in winter.

Beach

The hotel is located on the boulevard of Scheveningen and at the foot of the dunes. With a nice clear sky, you can see to Katwijk and even Noordwijk aan Zee. Take a lovely walk on the beach and visit the various beach clubs along the way during the summer season. If you go more to the right of the hotel you will avoid the crowds and you can visit the trendy beach clubs on the Zwarte Pad. Enjoy a delicious drink with the sun on your face. During the winter season, you can also enjoy the beach. Take a refreshing walk on the beach and warm up again inside by our fireplace while enjoying a delicious hot chocolate.

Nature reserve Meijendel

Meijendel is a beautiful dune area and part of the National Park Holland Dunes. You can cycle there and walk for hours. The area is very rich in different plant and animal species. Every season there are beautiful scenes to discover. In spring hawthorns bloom and in autumn there are many mushrooms. Those who walk through the dune area in spring can enjoy various bird sounds. In addition, the deer, which live in this nature reserve, often show themselves at dusk.

Kijfhoek and Bierlap is a grazing area (part of Meijendel) and has a day card area. There are no marked hiking trails on this varied terrain. You can take walks on the winding footpaths here. Galloway cattle and Konik horses can be found on the grounds. Many deer also find a quiet place to live here. You can buy a day pass in this area online.

Westbroekpark

Westbroek Park is located between Madurodam and Scheveningen. The park has large playing fields, ponds and waterways. The park is a wonderful base for walking, picnicking or boating. The park also features a beautiful rose garden. From June to October, about 25,000 roses can be found here. Growers from all over the world send the roses to get a nice spot in the park and to compete in the annual international rose competition, where an international jury judges the roses and awards gold, silver or bronze certificates for each category.

Fun to do:

Drink tea or rent a boat at De Waterkant. the scenery here is beautiful.
Reserve a table at Greens in the Park, an organic restaurant with its own caring vegetable garden.

Cycle route

At the Carlton Sports & Health Center, you can rent a variety of bicycles. Rent a normal bicycle or e-bike and start exploring the area! There is a beautiful route through the dunes of Scheveningen towards Katwijk. Ask for the bike route from one of our Carlton Sports & Health Center staff or view the route here.

Hiking route

Get a breath of fresh air and walk along the beach and through the dunes. Then this almost 12 km long beach walk is what you are looking for. This walk goes along all the beaches of The Hague. The route can be requested at our reception desk or can be viewed here.
